The Real Estate Institute of Australia has appointed Scott Rollason as their new chief executive officer.
Mr Rollason will take up the position from November 14, and brings a strong legal background and significant expertise in organisational management to the role.
The appointment marks a new chapter for REIA, with Mr Rollason’s experience spanning both Australian and United Kingdom member associations.
Mr Rollason said he was thrilled to take up the role, describing it as a unique opportunity to serve a broad and impactful community.
โI am thrilled to be appointed REIA’s next CEO,โ Mr Rollason said.
โWith a strong membership base of State and Territory Institutes representing over 46,000 businesses that support communities across Australia, it is truly an honour to step into this role.โ
Mr Rollason said he intends to prioritise REIAโs influence in upcoming policy discussions and legislation changes, particularly the national election and new industry regulations.
โSome of the short-term goals include bringing a strong, united sector voice to the 2025 election and supporting the sector in navigating current reforms, such as the Anti-Money Laundering obligations set to commence in 2026,โ he said.
โIn the longer term, I will continue to enhance the value of REIA membership.โ
Mr Rollason said he sees maintaining REIAโs voice in the national conversation around housing affordability as essential.
โMaintaining REIAโs strong voice in the national housing crisis conversation, as Australia faces high demand and inadequate supply in the housing market, is critical,โ he said.
โThe need for evidence-based policies that increase the supply of housing across the country has never been more crucial.โ
REIA President Leanne Pilkington said Mr Rollason has a diverse skill set which is perfect for the role.
“Scott is a qualified lawyer with a strong background in organisational strategy, governance, insurance, financial management, government relations, policy, and lobbying,” Ms Pilkington said.
Prior to joining REIA, Rollason served as General Manager of Family Day Care Australia, where he demonstrated his ability to lead national organisations.
His career has included significant positions within Commonwealth Government Departments, including roles in the Attorney-General’s Department and Department of Education, managing complex legislative matters.
Mr Rollason currently maintains an active role in the not-for-profit sector, serving on the Governance, Audit, Risk and Finance Board Committee for Dietitians Australia.
