The auction of the modern four-bedroom house at 5 Helena Road, Cecil Hills sold for $900,000 and $18,000 was donated to Bear Cottage.
It was a cause close to the hearts of many in the Raine and Horne Wetherill Park office.
โWe have a contractor who was part of the Bear Cottage family, which is to say his son was quite ill and very sadly he passed away,โ said listing agent Sam Ruisi Co-Principal of Raine & Horne Wetherill Park.
โThat inspired us. Often we are so busy and we worry about the future, we worry about tomorrow, but we donโt really think about some children who donโt even have tomorrow. Itโs about raising awareness,โ said Sam.
The house was sold to an investor and four registered bidders competed for the property. Auctioneer Rob Trovato from Auction Services donated his time for free.
Sam Ruisi encourages other agencies to take part in initiatives that give back to the community.
โIโd definitely do it again. We did a Christmas toy drive last year and we would definitely put our hands up for anything to do with children. We worry about money but agents should know that giving up their commission one one property they sell wonโt make a difference.
โIโm getting married in two weeks and weddings are very expensive. That $18,000 could have taken a big load off our shoulders financially. But this is more important. I would definitely recommend other agencies to do it, or similar initiatives, even once a year with their chosen charities,โ he said.
โOur commission will be added to the proceeds of Bear Cottageโs Superheroโs Week, which is aiming to raise $200,000 for the self-funded charity,โ said Natalie Rutonski, Principal and Property Manager, Raine & Horne Wetherill Park.
