Neil Webster: Fulfilling dreams

A relative newcomer to the industry, Stone Real Estate – Illawarra’s Neil Webster already recognises that a little heart goes a long way

On getting into real estate
I have a background in project management, so communication and relationship-building were already key components of my skill set. A few friends within real estate thought it would suit me and when the time came for a career change, they got me drunk and convinced me to do it. I’m glad they did.

The happiest moment in my career
Within real estate, the happiest moments are always when a sale can help the vendors move on in life. Helping them fulfil their dreams is always rewarding.

The most memorable moment
I sold a 40-year-old penthouse at auction for $2.995 million, and that was great for the estate and family as it enabled them to fulfill their dreams and their kids’ dreams of going to Disneyland.

Best advice he’s received
Be yourself and believe in yourself. If you trust your ability and stick to your goals, you’ll achieve all you want.

Biggest challenge
Automation is a concern for any industry, including real estate. As agents, we need to focus on proving our worth – impeccable service, knowledge and communication, and even a little heart and care – will go a long way to ensuring longevity.

Change for good?
Unity and collaboration. Being fairly new in the industry, I’m a big believer in having a united front. If we all work together to the same standards and morals, it will again help to ensure real estate remains a valued profession.

‘Elite’ agent means
I think everyone has the ability to be an elite agent, but it doesn’t always have to be about transaction numbers. Some of the best agents are those who provide the best service and make it memorable.

#WeAreRealEstate is a series of short interviews with 140 agents all over Australia exploring the industry’s hopes, concerns, future challenges, and what it really means to be an Elite Agent.
