Leonardo DiCaprio buys Modern Family star’s stunning home

Not content to just star in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, Leonardo DiCaprio has just bought a A$9.1 million home that would look perfect on the movie’s set.

Complete with romantic Juliette balconies overlooking expansive living and dining rooms, DiCaprio bought the Los Feliz home from Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, according to Top Ten Real Estate Deals.

One of L.A’s prettiest homes, complete with rambling roses climbing across the facade of the Spanish Colonial-style home, DiCaprio bought the Aberdeen Ave abode for an equally charming reason – his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken.

Comprising more than 460sq m, the mansion features four bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Built in 1928 and completely renovated, the formal living and dining rooms have soaring ceilings and romantic Juliette balconies overlooking them.

There are arched doorways, stained-glass windows, multiple fireplaces, elegant baths, sweeping staircases, an intricately carved entry door, and inlaid ceilings.

The eat-in kitchen has all the bells and whistles that make it both pretty and functional, and the family room can alternatively be used as a media room with its drop-down screen.

Almost all the rooms open to landscaped terraces, colourful gardens, courtyards, fountains and views of the Griffith Observatory. There is also a detached bathroom by the pool and spa and a detached meditation or yoga room.

Ferguson isn’t the only famous former owner, with the home once belonging to singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani.

The selling agent for the property was Jennifer Akbari from Compass, and the property sold after just seven days on the market.

The purchase is DiCaprio’s second in Loz Feliz in recent years after also buying a US$4.9 million property for his father George DiCaprio.

The star of hit movies such as Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Revenant, DiCaprio has spent many of his millions building a property portfolio.

Part of his collection includes an L.A home he bought from Madonna in the ‘90s, a mid-century modern home in Palm Springs that was built for Dinah Shore, and which he bought in 2014.

He also snapped up a Malibu home in 2017 for a cool US$23 million and can holiday on his own island in Belize.

But perhaps DiCaprio’s favourite home is his two-compound property on Sunset Strip where he mostly resides.

It is just a 30-minute drive from his parents in Los Feliz after all.
