Kris Kristofferson puts oceanside ranch on the market

Country music legend Kris Kristofferson has put his Northern California ranch on the market for US$17.2 million.

The ranch, located three hours north of San Francisco in Elk, spans 557 acres and has been owned by Kristofferson for nearly four decades, according to the Robb Report.

Originally purchased in 1980, the Texas-born singer-songwriter used a substantial part of the land for cattle grazing over the years.

The ranch, dating back to the 1800s, began as a dairy farm, and some of its original structures still stand.

The property includes a 222sq m barn, a 176sq m ranch house, a dairy barn, and a feed barn, all in need of refurbishment.

Kristofferson, also known for his acting roles, including A Star Is Born, has said that the ranch has always been a source of creativity and inspiration.

The property encompasses 300 acres of open pasture and approximately 250 acres of forestland, adorned with old-growth redwood and fir trees.

The land also offers a mile of Pacific Ocean frontage, situated near Devils Basin.
