How Lou Colella is winning in Melbourne’s Bayside area

Just three months after striking out with a new brand and fresh approach to his business, Melbourne agent Lou Colella hasn’t looked back.

Launched in March, his brand Colella sees him continue a long association with the Agents’Agency but as an independent business with a name that taps into his long-established reputation in the Bayside area.

Lou explains he initially joined the Agents’Agency when they were the Eview Group back in 2018.

Drawing on more than a decade of industry experience, he then helped launch and build the successful Bayside office, which he headed up for five years.

Earlier this year, he decided it was time for a new look and new approach, which would see him tap into the back-of-house support the Agents’Agency provides, but as an independent business.

And it’s a model that Lou says is working extremely well.

“We’ve been incredibly busy,” Lou reflects.

“We’ve spoken to lot of people, we’ve been selling a lot of homes and the new name has been very well-received.”

Lou notes putting his own name on the business wasn’t a move he made lightly, but it’s one that has resonated with both new and existing clients in the tight-knit Bayside enclave.

“To be honest, I was a little nervous, but it’s gone far better than I could have imagined,” he says.

“And of course, the support from the Agents’Agency has been brilliant. It always is and that’s why it’s such a successful network.”

Since relaunching 100 days ago, Lou and his team have been hard at work focusing on sales while also starting up a rent roll.

That rent roll is managed by the Agents’Agency’s dedicated Zebra Property Management department, who take care of all the back of house administration, allowing the agency owner to build and scale their property managements quickly.

“All property management tasks that can be done behind a desk they take care of, while we look after anything that requires face-to-face contact,” Lou explains.

“The knowledge and professional skills that Zebra has are brilliant, allowing us to concentrate on providing our property owners and renters with that personal real estate touch.”

Lou notes the rent roll adds another string to his business bow, ensuring his agency is a one-stop shop for all the property needs of his clients.

“I can now offer a complete real estate package to my clientele – whether they’re buyers, sellers, investors or renters,” he says.

With 100 days of success under Colella’s belt, Lou says he now plans to take a brief family holiday before gearing up for the spring selling season ahead.

“We’ll be away for four weeks and during that time will attend the Agents’Agency wellness conference in Greece,” he says.

“It’s the chance to recharge, reinvigorate and then come back for a bumper end to 2023 and an even bigger 2024.”

And Lou has big growth plans for the period to come. He will continue building his rent roll while retaining a focus on real estate sales.

That’s the great thing about being with the Agents’Agency,” Lou explains.

“I can focus all my energy on providing a great service to my clients and building the business, while the Agents’Agency takes care of the rest.”
