First National Real Estate has donated $5,000 to the Pyjama Foundation through its independent charity, The First National Foundation.
Foundation Chairman David Lovell presented a cheque to Gold Coast Regional Coordinator, Stephanie Reardon during the network’s National Convention at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, which had attracted over 350 agents from around Australia.
The network’s Family Day was a fun-filled event that included a sausage sizzle, jumping castle, and an educational show from Farmer Dave, Australia’s best-known dog trainer and professional entertainer, which kept the children absolutely captivated.
“The Pyjama Foundation’s ‘Love of Learning’ programme helps children overcome disadvantage and, like many volunteer-based organisations, they always need more funding support. We hope that today’s donation will help the ‘Pyjama Angels’ to continue to provide a more positive outlook for these beautiful children,” said Mr Lovell.
Farmer Dave, who has performed at Australia’s biggest and best shows with audiences of up to 80,000, enthralled the children with stories about farm life, Australian agriculture, and interpreting the behavioural signals dogs send.
His motley crew of rehabilitated rescue dogs performed hilarious tricks and demonstrated how amazing the bond with man’s best friend can be.
The Pyjama Foundation was founded in 2004 to give children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills, and confidence. Volunteers called Pyjama Angels are matched with a child in care and spend an hour a week focusing on learning based activities.
Pyjama Angels read books aloud, play educational games, and help children with their homework. In that time, they demonstrate that the child is valued and loved.
First National’s Foundation has delivered support to a wide range of community-based organisations over the past 10 years.
As a result of First National Real Estate’s commitment, the network has assisted Australians as they work to help young women become future leaders, helped the cause of suicide prevention, supported animal rights, promoted tolerance, supported young people with degenerative diseases or serious brain and spinal injuries, connected women with legal advice and business coaching, reduced homelessness, and also alleviated poverty.
