Gene Simmons, bassist and singer of the iconic band Kiss, has listed his Beverly Hills home for $13.995 million (approximately AUD $21.5 million). But he isn’t looking to sell to just anyone.
“You have such wonderful times there, you don’t want some schmuck in the place you call home,” Simmons, 75 told the Wall Street Journal. “No drugs, no alcoholics. I don’t want anybody coming in there who is going to destroy the place.”
The roughly 7,740-square-foot, four-bedroom house sits on a hillside with views of Coldwater Canyon, Century City and the Pacific Ocean. Represented by Compass, the property features large, floor-to-ceiling windows that slide open to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience.
The house includes approximately 1,800 square feet of deck space and a 40-foot black-lined infinity pool, powered by solar energy.
Its dark exterior is contrasted by bronze geometric sculptures and landscaped succulents.
Built using glass, steel, oak and concrete, the residence is defined by its open-plan layout, 12-foot ceilings, mirrored hallways, and scenic integration throughout its kitchen, dining, and living spaces.
Simmons and his wife, Shannon Tweed Simmons, purchased the property in 2021 for $10.5 million.
After initially planning a move to Las Vegas, they reversed course due to the climate and decided to retain a base in Beverly Hills instead.
“Family is forever. You want someplace that can be your business center, close to everything that you need in L.A., but also a place where your kids want to come over and hang with you,” he said.
The couple now plans to relocate to a recently purchased house in Malibu and reduce the number of properties they own.
The house was designed by Swiss architect Roger P. Kurath and includes an upstairs gallery space and a soundproofed home theatre, which Simmons uses to screen films for his production company, Simmons/Hamilton Productions.
The home also features eco-materials, radiant heated flooring, and triple-panel fire-resistant, waterproof windows. Swiss technology and steel fixtures enhance the home’s security.
