LJ Hooker appoints Ty Read as Head of Learning and Development for Australia and New Zealand, marking his return to the network where he began his career.

The return of a familiar face to the LJ Hooker network is set to bolster the iconic brand’s commitment to leadership and training capabilities in the countdown to its centenary celebrations.

Ty Read has been appointed Head of Learning and Development for Australia and New Zealand, a newly created role pivotal in shaping future talent, enhancing in-house programs and creating mentoring opportunities.

It is a full-circle moment for the respected industry trainer who started his career as a sales agent more than 20 years ago with LJ Hooker Darwin.

Within his first 12 months, he was recognised as one of the top 3% of agents across the national network, before going on to build a career in agency coaching and operational growth with the brand.

Ty went on to become a lead performance and growth coach, training more than 4,000 agents for brands including Harcourts, Belle Property, and hockingstuart, as well as many boutique agencies.

“I have always had a long-standing affinity for LJ Hooker, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be returning to the brand where it all started for me,” Ty said.

“The opportunities and support I received helped shape my career, and I proudly consider myself a product of the brand. If you look at many leaders within the industry, they also built their foundations with LJ Hooker. Being part of the network really meant that you had passed the test of being a good agent.”

Chief Executive Officer Christine Mikhael said the newly created position will ensure agents and businesses across Australia and New Zealand are provided with the right resources to strengthen performance and productivity.

“It is fantastic and fitting to welcome Ty back to the network in this role. As we head toward our centenary, continuing to build capability and leadership across the network is a clear priority, and Ty brings proven experience in developing high performing teams, and a genuine connection to our brand,” she said.

“Ty will focus on lifting performance capabilities across the network through structured learning that supports results through every stage.

“His role is about delivering greater consistency and scale so every office, regardless of size or location, can access high quality development and support.

“We will also strengthen our learning pathways to continue to attract and retain great people and build a stronger talent pipeline for the future.

“Just as importantly, it will support the next generation of leaders through succession planning and leadership development across Australia and New Zealand.”

Ty will be working closely with the Network Performance team and will encourage businesses to take advantage of in-house coaching. The aim is to create and maintain a high-performance culture supported by strategic training, career pathways and succession plans.

“This is such a great time for the network. With the 100-year celebrations approaching, we can look back and celebrate where we have come from, recognise where we are today and feel excited about where we’re headed next,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to strengthening LJ Hooker’s position as a leading network across Australia and New Zealand, while supporting our people and offices to grow, perform and achieve their goals.”
