Dulux predicts colour and design trends for 2018

Dulux UK has released their 2018 colour of the year, giving an insight into what we will be seeing in home design.

โ€˜Heartwoodโ€™ is a shade of pink described as between a โ€œsmoky taupe and dusky mauveโ€ and isnโ€™t a surprising choice given the design worldโ€™s obsession with โ€˜millennial pinkโ€™ and the shadeโ€™s popularity.

While Dulux Australia hasnโ€™t released a colour of the year, it has forecasted key colour trends and combinations that we will be seeing in homes.

Dulux Australia says the colour trends are inspired by global textures and soft neutrals juxtaposed with rich, luxurious green and playful, tropical bright hues.

โ€œInspired by our global trends research, itโ€™s clear that 2018 will see an emphasis on balance, connection and community,โ€ says Dulux colour expert, Andrea Lucena-Orr.

โ€œAs we let go of the idea of perfection in both our homes and other aspects in our lives, we are instead seeking to create balanced, harmonious interiors that stimulate the senses, while simultaneously allowing us to relax and retreat.

โ€œOur homes should tell our stories, connecting us to both the past and the future. Colour is a wonderful way to express our personal tastes and passions.โ€

So how are 2018 trends different from the past?

โ€œNatural, earthy colours and textures will be coming to the fore and there will be even more of an appreciation for the splendour of imperfection,โ€ says Andrea.

โ€œAt the same time, weโ€™ll also see an inspiring travel palette emerging, filled with palm prints,

happiness and visual delights. Immersing yourself in this uplifting world of colour can be transformative, lifting the soul and making you feel more spontaneous and creative.โ€
