RE/MAX New Zealand set ‘Navigating change’ as the theme for its February Rally held at the Grand Millennium, Auckland on Thursday, 13 February.
“Change and the challenges associated with it are prominent on the RE/MAX New Zealand outlook for 2020,” said RE/MAX New Zealand Managing Director Michael Davoren.
“Along with technology, global developments and changing customer expectations, the September election will affect us, the real estate industry at large and its customers.
“Closer to home, the greatest change for RE/MAX New Zealand is the ownership change in April when Don Ha becomes the first New Zealander to have sole ownership of the master franchise.
“After approximately 20 years, for the first time, RE/MAX New Zealand is solely owned by a New Zealander – one of the country’s most experienced, recognised and respected business personalities.
Addressing changing customer expectation, the Rally program featured a Navigating Change panel, facilitated by RE/MAX Director Chris Chapman, with Josh Bronkhorst, Mortgage Link; Ben Speedy of CoreLogic NZ; and Vikas Verma, General Manager of Real Estate for NZME.
Speakers were RE/MAX New Zealand’s Ben Kloppers from Warkworth, Gemma Rowlinson from Pokeno and Shannon Ryan from New Plymouth; Parramatta-based Morris Short from RE/MAX Australia; and Sarah Wood, CEO of realestate.co.nz
Technology super-mind and Australasia’s acclaimed ‘godfather of agile’, Nigel Dalton, was keynote speaker.
“We invited Nigel because of his experience with and knowledge of the trends that confront the real estate industry,” Mr Davoren said.
“He can see where things are heading for agencies, agents and property managers and understands what we need to address.”
RE/MAX New Zealand announced its award-winners for 2019 at a gala event in the evening of the ‘2020 vision: Navigating change’ Rally, where the theme turned to ‘Bollywood’.
The network’s ultimate individual honour, Broker Owner of the Year, which is traditionally the final announcement, went to Garry Malcolm, RE/MAX Team Realty in New Plymouth.
The highest business accolade, the ‘Pinnacle Enterprise’ Award, which is based on a franchisee’s total business, including sales and property management divisions, went to RE/MAX Revolution, owned by Don Ha. RE/MAX Revolution won the Top Multi-office Award.
Team Lewis from RE/MAX Go For Sold in Palmerston North was the New Zealand network’s top sales team.
Among the individual stars were RE/MAX Go For Sold’s Jeremy Crosland who won ‘Top Sales Agent’ and ‘Young Agent of the Year’, and ‘Rookie of the Year’ Gemma Rowlinson from RE/MAX Stars.
RE/MAX Partners produced both the Administrator of the Year (Preet Kaur) and Personal Assistant of the Year (Robert Yu).
In a repeat of last year, sales associate Brok Milligan won the ‘Special Achievement in Marketing’ award, and RE/MAX Realty Group won the ‘Special Achievement in Marketing’ award for an office.
RE/MAX Revolution’s Papatoetoe office won the Business Growth award while Darren Young from RE/MAX One took out the individual category.
While RE/MAX Partners took out the ‘Best Business Growth – Property Management’ award; it was Sylvia Higgins from RE/MAX Go For Sold who claimed the ‘Property Manager of the Year’ title.
Don Ha, RE/MAX Revolution; Lisa Walden, RE/MAX Stars; Anne Wilson, RE/MAX Team Realty; and Jerry Chen, RE/MAX Partners, were announced RE/MAX International Hall of Fame inductees.
RE/MAX New Zealand turned its attention across the Tasman to support Beyond the Bricks, an industry-wide response to the devastation caused by Australia’s bushfires. A generous and caring audience raised more than $8000 with Ben Kloppers as auctioneer for a charity auction on the night.
