AREC Accelerate theme a winner

John McGrath believes that AREC2022 will have a meaningful impact on the industry, with Matthew McConaughey opening the conference as a keynote speaker.

The Announcement:

The Australasian Real Estate Conference (AREC), now in its 24th year, will draw upon 33 speakers from overseas and around Australia in an intensive program for residential sales and property management.

The two-day conference returns for the 10th year to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday, 29 May and Monday, 30 May.

The program also has a focus of speaker engagement from industry specialists with a deep understanding of the local real estate landscape.

AREC founder John McGrath, believes that AREC2022 will have a meaningful impact on the industry, as the largest training event in the southern hemisphere.

“The acceleration theme is a reflection of the increased pace of change we believe is now upon the industry. Consumers are expecting more, faster, better.

Agents operating under an old paradigm will be swamped by those who understand the challenges and the opportunities that are now upon us.

We believe there will be a significant shakeout over the next few years of agents who don’t understand what people want.

But at the same time, we see those who deliver above expectations will be able to build their business faster and larger than ever in history. So acceleration was an obvious theme for 2022.

“Each year we strive to present the Australasian audience a better lineup of speakers than the year before. Which of course 25 years later becomes a challenging task.

But I honestly believe we’ve done it again. With literally the best speakers in the world like Seth Godin, Mel Robbins and Matthew McConaughey heading up our star-studded lineup alongside agents who are doing things that have never been done before in their markets, we believe it’s unarguable that AREC2022 brings together the best talent in real estate history,” Mr McGrath concluded.

Nichola Byrne, General Manager of Total Real Estate Training (TRET), organiser of AREC2022 said:

“In a new world of global communication and the many restrictions caused by the pandemic, we have embraced technology to access speakers we would otherwise be unable to secure, to share valuable insights and learnings with our delegates.

The appetite for face-to-face learning has seen our registrations rocket and with the opening of our borders, so too are registrations from across the pond.

We expect attendance numbers to exceed 3500 delegates and currently Victoria is leading the way (32 per cent), followed by NSW (29 per cent) and Queensland (19 per cent).

“In addition, this is the first time in my 10 year tenure that we have experienced such strong demand from exhibitors wanting access to our industry, added Ms Byrne.

Opening the conference (via satellite) is Matthew McConaughey where the audience will experience a compelling conversation with the Academy Award winning actor and one of Hollywood’s most in-demand leading men.

He serves as Minister of Culture/M.O.C. for the University of Texas Athletic Department and The Austin FC Soccer Club, where he is part owner.

As the closing keynote speaker on Day 2, Dr Richard (“Harry”) Harris will inspire the audience and have them on the edge of their seats with his adventures beyond medicine.

In 2018 he received the Star of Courage, Australia’s second highest civilian award for bravery, and the medal of the Order of Australia for his role in the Thailand cave rescue.
