Alex Borthwick brings two decades of industry experience to the role, having built her reputation across property management, business development, team leadership, and sales, earning several industry recognitions throughout her career.
“This year marks 20 years in the industry for me,” she says. “I’ve helped so many people on their property journey, from tenants to landlords to sellers to buyers. Every single person has a slightly different story.”
It is precisely that breadth of experience that distinguishes Alex in a competitive market.
Where most agents arrive in sales with a singular view of the transaction, Alex brings an intimate understanding of how property performs across every dimension: how buyers think, what vendors need, and what it takes to guide clients through one of the most significant decisions of their lives.
“Every property decision is significant in somebody’s life,” she says. “The result of the transaction affects the next phase of their life, whatever that may be.”
It’s a perspective that extends to the properties themselves. When Alex walks into a home, she sees more than square metres and finishes. “When somebody has been living in a property, I’m walking in, and their personality is all around it. I really find that rewarding.”
Her connection to Sydney’s Inner West runs equally deep. Having relocated from Brisbane in 2011, Alex has spent the better part of fifteen years developing an authoritative knowledge of the Inner West and Inner East markets.
“It’s a little bit of a Sydney 360 moment, coming back to work in an office in Newtown,” she says.
Alex is known for the quality of her counsel as much as her results, and for her willingness to have the conversations that others shy away from.
“Results happen after we’ve made sure this is the best decision for the client,” she says. “I’m not afraid to have difficult conversations. Sometimes I have to deliver information that’s difficult to hear, but it’s necessary.
“It’s my role to deliver that advice so my clients can make the best possible decision for their next steps.”
Having navigated multiple market cycles over two decades, she brings a composure to her work that clients find rare.
“I’m the person that clients call for advice when they just want to soundboard something,” she says. “We’re all humans at the end of the day. I’m just a human talking to another human.”
The move to join Adrian William was, for Alex, a considered one. Having known Directors Adrian Tsavalas and William Pereira for several years, Alex said the agency’s culture, ambition, and vision for the future stood out.
“I really believe in their business and what they’re striving to achieve,” she said.
“I wanted to be on board with a team that was trying to do something exceptional.”
With two decades of industry experience and a people-first philosophy guiding every decision, Alex is poised to make an immediate impact across Sydney’s Inner City.
