Tom Cruise selling Colorado mountain retreat

Tom Cruise fans in the hunt for a slice of the Mission: Impossible starโ€™s property portfolio are in luck, with the actor putting his 130-hectare ranch in Telluride, Colorado, on the market for the first time.

But prospective buyers will have to show him the money, with the property listed for $50.63 million.

According to realtor.com, the actor had previously sought buyer interest at the higher price of $US59 million ($75.62 million) in 2014 but this marks the first time he has officially put the ranch on the market.

The listing is held by Eric Lavey and Dan Dockray of LIV Sothebyโ€™s International Realty.

Surrounded by mountains, the property includes forested trails for exploring the natural surroundings and is only minutes from Telluride.

The 58-year-old actor reportedly spent years amassing the land and built a 930 square metre, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom home, on the property in 1994.

The interior includes a chefโ€™s kitchen, a fitness centre, recreation room, den, an office suite, two fireplaces and multiple terraces.

In addition to the main residence, which is built from cedar and native stone, the estate also features a three-bedroom guest lodge.

The property boasts spectacular mountain vistas and is ideal for those interested in outdoor pursuits such as skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking, biking, horse riding and golf in warmer months.

It has been reported that Cruise – who also owns homes in Beverly Hills, California; Clearwater, Florida; Dulwich, London; and East Grinstead, West Sussex – no longer uses the ranch and has decided itโ€™s time to put the premium property on the market.

The mountain retreat was the location for a 2016 Vanity Fair magazine profile of the actor, which also featured his then-wife Katie Holmes and daughter, Suri.

Cruise also invited Oprah Winfrey to the Colorado ranch to interview him on his couch in 2008, following his infamous couch-jumping episode on the talk-show hostโ€™s program a few years earlier.

“The biggest draw is how much acreage you have,” Mr Lavey told realtor.com. “The driveway is over a mile along. The privacy level is outrageous, while also being five to nine minutes away from the downtown and the slopes.”

Cruiseโ€™s latest film Top Gun: Maverick, is currently scheduled for release in July and the seventh and eighth films in the Mission: Impossible franchise are currently shooting back-to-back.
