Sophie Monk sells Gold Coast property

TV personality Sophie Monk has successfully sold a riverfront property in the Gold Coast, a nod to her roots as the home is located in the suburb where she once attended primary school.

This transaction took place a month after Monk, famed for her role as the host of Love Island Australia, put the Helensvale property on the market, with a guide price of $1.75 million.

The exact sale price remains undisclosed, but records indicate that the property, spanning over 4018sq m within the exclusive Riverdowns Estate, was officially transferred to new owners last week, with the final settlement still pending, according to realestate.com.au.

Monk, aged 44, acquired the house in 2016 for $1.1 million, marking her return to Australia after spending 10 years in Los Angeles.

She has also previously rented out the home for $1200 per week, and it was listed for sale in December following the departure of the tenants.

The property, marketed by Steve and James Weir of Harcourts Coastal, is described as a quintessentially family home offering tranquility, privacy, and a prime location.

The listing highlighted the property’s ample space, potential for personalisation, direct ocean access, a boat ramp, jetty, storage facilities, swimming pool, and outdoor entertainment areas.

The interior features air conditioning, spacious living zones, a modern kitchen with stone countertops, and a distinctive staircase.

Monk’s connection to the Gold Coast extends back to her childhood, having moved there from the UK at the age of two and attended Helensvale Primary School.

Monk’s career took off with the Australian girl band Bardot and she has since flourished in both Australia and the US, including winning Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2015 and starring in the third season of The Bachelorette.

Her recent hosting roles include Beauty and the Geek and Love Island Australia.

Beyond her television career, Monk has also invested in real estate, including the purchase of a three-bedroom home in Matcham on the NSW Central Coast for $2.3 million in 2020, showcasing her keen interest in the property market.
