The Power 50 is a list of ‘movers, shakers and shapers’ put together by News Mail in association with Central Queensland University.
More than 100 names were put forward for consideration in the selection of the region’s most influential, which were then reduced to a top 50.
Scott Mackey rounded off the list last year at #50 and this year managed to achieve the biggest climb in the list as he moved from #50 to #26.
“I think, just like the cricket, fifty sounded like a good number to me; it was an honour just to be recognised last year and an even bigger honour again this year. There are so many awards out there that [it] sometimes dilutes things, but I am very happy to be recognised by Power 50,” said Scott.
“There is a big support system around me that helps me get to where I am today; I couldn’t have done it without them.”
The list is compiled through consideration of what makes a contender influential. Scott was the only real estate professional to crack the list this year.
For the Bundaberg property industry identity and owner of RE/MAX Precision, it was “his finger on the real estate and industry sector’s pulse” in the region, according to the Power 50 judging panel.
Power 50 recognised him for his ability to be well connected both within the region and outside it, having “played a key role in brokering big projects and selling the region internationally”.
“Bundaberg currently has a very high employment rate and is becoming a hot spot for investors. I think a lot of people are a bit uncertain with the Royal Commission, but Bundaberg continues to thrive – it’s an exciting time,” said Scott.
“I will continue to put in the hard yards and treat everyone equally, regardless if the property is 600k or $6 million; every listing deserves great service.”
