Real estate agent Brett Reddell made the wisest move of his career when he backed his reputation and business expertise and partnered with real estate network Area Specialist.
Mr Reddell, who operates in the Ormeau area in the northern Gold Coast, became one of the first Area Specialist agents in Queensland in 2020.
With his profile in the region already established, Mr Reddell hit the ground running and in 2020-21 more than doubled the gross commission income (GCI) of his previous best year, despite the uncertainty the Covid pandemic created.
In 2021-22 he excelled again when he wrote $575,000 in GCI, which was five times his previous best year before joining Area Specialist.
“I wanted to do something different in real estate and looked at multiple platforms and the Area Specialist system stood out,” Mr Reddell said.
“It is easy, cost effective, and the support and admin team are sensational.”
Agents frustrated with limits to their earning potential in the traditional franchise model are making the switch because Area Specialist backs agents in developing their own personal brand.
Area Specialist agents are rewarded for their hard work by keeping 100 per cent of their GCI.
Thanks to his breakout year in 2020-21, Mr Reddell bought an investment property, a new car and a boat.
While the personal rewards are attractive, Mr Reddell also takes satisfaction in spreading the word about his part of the world to new buyers flocking to the region from interstate.
“This northern pocket of the Gold Coast was forgotten but it has been discovered now,” Mr Reddell said.
“I love the interstate people coming in because I get the chance to talk about my area.
“They come to Ormeau and see how it offers the solutions to their problems, with schools, easy access to the Gold Coast and Brisbane. They see the reasons to buy here.”
Mr Reddell has deep links to the community through five years as director and two as chair of the board at Mother Teresa Catholic Primary School in Ormeau and his assistance to business owners through local forums.
“One of my mantras is that success isn’t about how much money you make but the difference you make in people’s lives,” Mr Reddell said.
“We are part of these business groups because we are positive people wanting to grow our community, not just our own businesses.”
He has no doubt he made the right move to become an Area Specialist agent.
“It’s the best thing I could have done,” Mr Reddell said.
“The Area Specialist team are the most supportive and inspirational people you could meet and I have formed great friendships with other licensees around Australia.
“With Area Specialist I have found my groove, it is what I want to do and how I want to approach it. This is where I want to be.”
