Legend and Teigen list their NYC penthouse project

Celebrities John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have listed their New York City penthouse project for US$18 million.

According to Toptenrealestatedeals.com, the couple are offloading the two penthouse units they recently bought in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood, having initially intended on combining them into one huge residence.

The separate apartments could be combined to create a 1859-plus sq m residence with over 1000sq m of private outdoor rooftop terrace.

Under the proposed plans, half of the fifth floor and the entire sixth floor with triple exposures to the south, east and north could be combined to create a mega-unit with six bedrooms and seven baths.

The official listing notes that in its current configuration, the great room comes complete with a gas fireplace, integrated sound system with a 3.4m projector screen, custom wine cellar underneath the stairs and eight oversized windows – three of which open to Juliet balconies.

The corner great room includes soaring 3.6m ceilings and is filled with natural light. The fully reimagined open kitchen has been upgraded with a luxe Miele appliance package, Amuneal bespoke custom cabinets and is anchored by a central island clad in Cristallo, natural white quartz.

The combination could allow for further expansion of the great room to almost 365sq m of entertaining space.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal recently, Legend noted that the couple intends to spend their time in California.

“We’ve realised that because of work and everything, we’re really mostly going to be in Los Angeles, so we’re going to focus our home-building energy and renovation energy on what we’re doing in LA,” Legend said.

In only July last year the couple sold their Beverly Hills home for around US$16.8 million, which was $7.15 million less than the original asking price.
