Landscaping guru and The Block favourite Dave Franklin is selling his Beaumaris beauty

In the coastal paradise of Beaumaris, Dave Franklin’s family home tells a story that’s as captivating as the scenic bay views it overlooks.

Dave Franklin, an award-winning landscape architect, well-known from 12 seasons of The Block, has cherished this home for 15 years.

Back in 2007, Dave, the director of Franklin Landscape and Design, and his wife Jane stumbled upon what was then an unimpressive relic of the 1960s.

Enchanted by the panoramic views and inherent character, they saw a house that was ready to be transformed.

“It was a clay brick house with a concrete slab balcony that had white wrought iron,” Franklin told Domain.

“It stood firm, but it was begging for transformation.”

The house underwent a profound metamorphosis under the Franklins’ skilled hands, evolving from a modest two-bedroom residence into a magnificent four-bedroom haven.

A renowned pool expert, Franklin ensured that the place experienced an architectural rebirth.

“When I say we tackled a full renovation, I mean it’s like a brand-new house,” he says, detailing features such as a sparkling pool and spa, six-metre-high ceilings, and an upstairs outdoor spa with exquisite bay views.

Inside, the luxurious touch is everywhere, from entertainment zones and a chic Miele kitchen to a custom wine cellar.

But Franklin insists that the home’s true heart lies in the family memories made there, where their children, Summer and Tex, grew up.

“This home is more than its impeccable build,” Franklin said to Domain.

“It’s filled with joy from poolside summers, birthday celebrations, and memories from our travels.”

The home’s surroundings also play a part in its charm. Located near serene beaches and trendy spots, the Franklin’s connection with Beaumaris and neighbouring Black Rock deepened.

“No matter which route you come home, you’re always greeted with glimpses of the bay,” he fondly reflects.

Yet the Franklins are visionaries, and the completion of one creative journey signals the beginning of another.

The home, named Hacienda, is now finished, and their attention is drawn to a new challenge.

“We’re excited for a fresh start,” Franklin said

“Parting with our home tugs at our hearts, but we feel the timing is just right.”
