Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon and space company Blue Origin, has made headlines once again with his latest real estate purchase in South Florida.
In an off-market deal valued at $90 million, Bezos has acquired a third waterfront estate on the prestigious Indian Creek Island, also known as the Billionaire Bunker, according to the Robb Report.
This purchase comes as Bezos secures the third spot on Forbes’s list of the world’s richest people.
The six-bedroom mansion, which Bezos plans to inhabit while his other two properties undergo renovations, showcases the significant increase in property values on the island.
Records indicate the estate was last sold in 1998 for a mere $2.5 million.
The property, originally constructed in 1956 and expanded in the subsequent decades, features luxurious amenities including a swimming pool, a boat dock on Biscayne Bay, and spans over 929sq m of living space.
Bezos’s move to Miami was publicly announced via Instagram last November, highlighting his desire to be closer to family and his fiancรฉe, Lauren Sanchez.
This emotional decision marks a new chapter for Bezos, who has spent a significant portion of his life in Seattle.
With this latest acquisition, Bezos’s total investment in Indian Creek Island real estate amounts to nearly US$237 million.
He joins other high-profile residents such as Tom Brady, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and investor Carl Icahn in this exclusive community.
Indian Creek Island offers its residents luxury amenities, including a private 18-hole golf course and country club access, underscored by a high level of security and privacy.
