Interior designer Anna Spiro has listed her Ascot home, offering buyers a rare opportunity to purchase a property shaped by one of Australia’s most distinctive creative voices.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom Queenslander at Kidston Street sits on a 620 sqm block and dates back to around 1920.

Original features including pressed metal ceilings, hoop pine floors and sash windows remain intact throughout.

Matt Lancashire and Will Blewitt of Ray White Collective are marketing the property, with auction scheduled for 16 May.

Anna purchased the home in 2023 for $2.5 million and has since repainted inside and out, installed new cabinetry, air conditioning and carpets, and added her own window coverings.

“This house was always a temporary house for us,” Anna told realestate.com.au.

“We weren’t sure if we were moving to Melbourne or here at the time, and we’ve decided we need something bigger and maybe a new project for me.”

The designer and her husband Luke Warwick – managing director of Melbourne-based Elliott Clarke Textiles – currently split their time between the Ascot property, a home in Toorak, and a cottage on North Stradbroke Island that Anna bought in 2020 for just over $1 million.

The couple have purchased a larger home in the same area.

Anna began her design career at 17 as a junior assistant before eventually establishing Anna Spiro Design a decade ago.

Her portfolio now spans residential projects in Australia, the UK and US, along with hospitality venues including boutique hotel Halcyon House and Brisbane restaurants Mr Percival’s and Arc Dining.

She has also collaborated with global homewares retailer Anthropologie and published two books – A Life in Pattern and Absolutely Beautiful Things.

Her next major project is the refurbishment of the 304-room Rydges South Bank ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

On the Ascot sale, Anna said she’s open to negotiating on some of her interiors.

The property features a main living space anchored by a fireplace, a light-filled kitchen and family zone, plus lush gardens with winding paths and multiple outdoor spaces.
