The Hollywood Hills home where actress Ava Gardner lived during her turbulent marriage to Frank Sinatra is for sale at $2.9 million (AUD$4.5 million).

The mid-century home sits in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles and was used as a private retreat during the couple’s high-profile relationship in the 1950s.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home spans about 2,668 square feet and retains classic design features of its era, including walls of glass and open living spaces that connect to sweeping views over the hills.

Inside, the updated interiors contrast with its vintage character, featuring a modern kitchen, light-filled living areas and seamless indoor-outdoor flow to a rear patio and garden.

People reports that Ava, a major star of Hollywood’s Golden Age, lived there while married to beloved crooner ‘Ol Blue Eyes’ between 1951 and 1957; it was one of the most talked-about relationships of its time.

He was already one of the world’s biggest entertainers, and still married to his first wife, Nancy Barbato, when their relationship began.

Ava was married to Frank, her third and final husband, from 1951 to 1957 – she died in 1990, aged 67.

The property is listed with Antonio Bruno of Sotheby’s International Realty – Beverly Hills Brokerage.
