When Clint Harris talks about real estate he doesn’t just focus on bricks and mortar, he also loves to connect buyers with the local community.
A third-generation Toukley resident, on the NSW Central Coast, Clint has joined The Agency with a goal of helping the national brand grow in the region and to sell the community and lifestyle to more people.
“A lot of what I do with buyers is talking about the position and its proximity relevant to beaches and natural infrastructure,” he says.
“That’s what excites me and what a lot of people are moving to the area for, so often I’m talking about Catherine Hill Bay Beach, Moonee Beach and Soldiers Beach.
“I’ll even drive buyers down there to give them a bit of insight into what I’ve grown up alongside here.”
For almost 50 years, Clint’s family has had a close connection with the local community, running the Beachin Surf retail store on Main Rd.
His local knowledge and love for the area is something Clint prides himself on and says sets him apart from the competition.
“A lot of agents talk so much about four bedrooms, but 80 to 90 per cent of the value of a property is in the land,” Clint says.
“But how often do they actually take a buyer down to a lake walk or take them to the local cafe and say, ‘This is where I like to get my coffee’ or go to a local beach and say, ‘This is Cabbage Tree Bay and you can go snorkelling here, while the kids have the rock pool over there’.
“This is what I do a lot of, which also gives me a lot of face time with buyers outside of the house and, if you’re selling a lifestyle, you’ve got to do that.”
Clint, who has a background in publishing and advertising, transitioned to real estate about eight years ago when he returned to the NSW Central Coast for the lifestyle he now sells to others.
He chose real estate as he had long had an interest in property investment, including owning investment properties himself.
Clint says he learnt a lot working at a boutique agency, but when it came time to grow, evolve and go out on his own, The Agency stood out as being the right partner to help him achieve his goals.
“The key differential is the leadership team that is at The Agency,” he says.
“It wasn’t about the most money, it wasn’t about the most bells and whistles, it was about the people.
“As soon as I met them (Matt Lahood and Geoff Lucas), they had this energy and I knew that would translate into energy for me.”
Clint has joined The Agency working alongside Jeremy Smith and is also looking to expand the team further, firstly with a head of concierge role to elevate service levels for clients.
“We’re also not looking to do this just for ourselves,” he says.
“We’re looking to connect with other aligned agents in the local community that want for something more and that want to service their community.
“This isn’t about me just controlling a bit of the market, it’s actually about collaborating with people and growing a significant offering to the local marketplace that’s extended to many people.”
Clint says for now the team is working in a mobile fashion, but there are plans to establish a commercial presence in the future.
