Retired movie star Cameron Diaz and her rocker husband Benji Madden have splashed out US$12.67 million for a Montecito mansion, adding to their already impressive property portfolio.
According to The Dirt, the recently remodelled mansion, which “pairs traditional Mediterranean architecture with contemporary refinement”, can be likened to an estate in Italy’s famously gorgeous Lake Como area.
The three-storey villa comprises 1020sq m of living space, glimpses of the ocean and sits on 1.75 acres.
Inside the mansion, high ceilings are a prominent feature along with premium finishes, liberal use of marble and wide-plank wood flooring.
There’s also a serpentine staircase and gallery in the cupola-topped, double-height foyer, while adjoining living rooms each offer with a fireplace.
A stone-balustraded terrace offers serene sunset views and the chef-accommodating, minimalist kitchen is complemented by a spacious formal dining room and an oversized butler’s pantry.
The estate boasts six bedrooms with ensuites, seven full bathrooms and three half-baths including a deluxe junior suite on the main floor.
A large main suite on the upper level incorporates a sitting room with chateau-style fireplace, an ocean-view terrace, two spa-style bathrooms, and two room-sized walk-in closets.
Diaz and Madden will also be able to enjoy the study/home office with fireplace, a state-of-the-art media room for at-home movie watching, and a spa treatment room.
Outside there’s a poolside cabana with an open-plan living area, a fireplace and a bathroom.
The estate sits within the gated Ennisbrook enclave and is surrounded by hedges and fully landscaped grounds. There’s also a waterfall that cascades over a tumble of boulders and low native-stone walls, large trees and a number of raised bed gardens.
The A-list couple own a host of properties across the US, including a contemporary cottage above LA’s Sunset Strip, a secluded compound in the Coldwater Canyon area of Beverly Hills, a three-bedroom condo in lower Manhattan’s Chelsea District and another seven-bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills.
