Roberto Carlos, widely regarded as one of the greatest left-backs in football history, has purchased two units at Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale, the first Viceroy-branded luxury condominium in the city.

The 45-storey tower, developed by Naftali Group and represented by Douglas Elliman, features 251 residences ranging from one to four bedrooms, according to a press release from Naftali Group.

The building includes more than 30,000 square feet of amenities, a 15,000-square-foot restaurant and private members’ club by The h.wood Group – the Los Angeles hospitality company behind celebrity-favourite venues Delilah and The Nice Guy.

The Brazilian icon, known for his legendary career with Real Madrid and the Brazilian National Team, said Fort Lauderdale had been a long-standing destination for him.

“Fort Lauderdale is a place I’ve been coming to for years, and I’ve always felt a strong connection to this city,” Roberto Carlos said.

“When I saw Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale, I was drawn to the project right away. The design, energy and lifestyle all felt special. I knew immediately it would be the perfect fit for the way I want to experience South Florida.”

The development recently unveiled its penthouse collection, listed at a combined US$20 million (A$28 million). The penthouses include what the developer describes as Flagler Village’s only private rooftop spas.

Danielle Naftali, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Design at Naftali Group, said the purchase reflected a shift in buyer priorities.

“We’re seeing a clear shift toward buyers who are prioritising experiences, lifestyle and global connectivity just as much as the quality of the residences,” she said.

“Viceroy Residences Fort Lauderdale was designed with that in mind, bringing together thoughtful design, service and a highly curated lifestyle. We are proud to welcome Roberto Carlos to the community.”
