Mining billionaire Chris Ellison and his wife Tia have listed their sprawling riverfront compound in Perth’s Mosman Park – a property expected to smash the city’s house price record.

Chris paid iron ore heiress Angela Bennett $57.5 million for the estate overlooking the Swan River in 2009, setting what was then a national record, according to the AFR.

That figure remains the highest price ever paid for a Perth home.

Now, 16 years on, local sources tip the property to be worth significantly more.

Selling agent Vivien Yap of Ray White Dalkeith Claremont, who holds the listing, said the Ellisons were downsizing from the Saunders Street estate, which sits on a 7565-square-metre site.

Given the absence of comparable sales, Vivien said the campaign would await buyer feedback before offering any price indication to the market.

“This is a showstopper,” Vivien told the AFR.

“Every day is filled with a kind of lifestyle most people only dream of.

“Every element of this home has been designed for luxury, comfort and seamless riverside living.”

Strong interest has already been registered from buyers across Asia and Australia since the appointment was confirmed.

The compound comprises three separate buildings: a palatial three-storey main house, a gate house, and a guest house.

Beyond the tree-lined drive, visitors enter through a triple-height foyer featuring an indoor koi pond beneath a glass-dome ceiling edged with hand-painted acanthus leaves.

A marble staircase with wrought-iron balustrade and a glass lift connects the three levels.

The property includes an indoor swimming pool pavilion, full-sized tennis court, cinema, and boathouse with direct jetty access.

Other features include solid oak doors, a sauna, a gym, a chef’s kitchen with a walk-in pantry, a cool room, and a dumbwaiter to the pool area.

The home was built by the previous owner, Angela Bennett, and later revamped by the Ellisons. Angela’s wealth traces back to the Pilbara mining ventures of her late father, Peter Wright, and his business partner, Lang Hancock.
