Rob Taylor has sold Taylors Property Specialists to Beau Miller, capping a planned succession that keeps the Whitsundays agency’s brand, team and founder intact as Taylor moves toward retirement.
Rob opened the business with agents Mel Butcher and Brad Sobott seven years ago, building it into what is described as one of the region’s best-known independent agencies after three decades in real estate. The business now operates across Cannonvale and Proserpine with a team of around 20.
Beau takes on the role of principal after more than 25 years in the industry. She started in property management at 17, moved through residential sales, agency ownership, business development and technology, founded her own Brisbane agency, Beautique Realty, and most recently held a state operations role with Elders Real Estate across Queensland and the Northern Territory, overseeing roughly 12,500 properties across six offices.
Beau said she isn’t planning to change what Rob built.
“I’m not here to change the business Rob created,” she said. “I’m here to strengthen what he built and support the team he built it with, so they can be the very best they can be for the community they serve.”
The handover was shaped by three decisions: the brand stays, the team stays, and Rob stays on in a mentoring capacity, kept deliberately clear of day-to-day operations.
“A lot of independents sell and disappear, or sell and can’t let go,” Beau said.
“Rob has managed to do neither. He’s available to me and to the team, but he isn’t running anything. That takes discipline.”
Beau’s early priorities are the agency’s rental division and balancing new systems with the way the business has always dealt with people.
“There’s a younger generation of agents coming through, and I want to make sure their lives are easier,” she said. “It’s about taking those old-fashioned ways of doing things and bringing them into the new world. Technology is here – but how do we keep the human element in those transactions?”
Property management, where Beau began her own career, is what she describes as the core of any strong agency, and strengthening the rental team’s knowledge sits at the top of her list.
She said the culture built under Rob is what she is most determined to leave untouched.
“They call each other a family, but I think they’re a team in the truest sense,” Beau said. “Everybody supports everybody else. If one person is down, the others step forward. I haven’t seen many businesses that operate like that, and that legacy belongs to Rob.”
The agency’s involvement with local schools, sporting teams and community events continues unchanged.
“Real estate agents can make a massive impact on a community because of the number of people they meet,” she said. “I want to make sure whatever impact we make genuinely makes a difference. Not impact for marketing. Impact that matters.”
