Barry Plant’s Chari Emirzade has 1000 reasons to smile

Barry Plant Group’s most prolific sales agents has just added another notch to his belt, selling his 1000th property.

Chari Emirzade, a sales consultant, auctioneer and partner at Barry Plant Geelong, hit the milestone last month. This feat has been made even more impressive by the fact that he has only been working in the real estate industry for six years.

Despite the volatility of the Victorian market in 2020, Mr Emirzade achieved more than 160 sales last year, which came from 210 listings, making him one of the nation’s most successful agents in terms of volume of sales and listings.

Mr Emirzade said he had worked consistently over the past six years to attain the success he has achieved.

“Everything is linked together,” he said. “It’s about having the right mindset and the right system in place, as well as being equipped with knowledge which is something that only comes with experience and hard work.”

For the past five years, Mr Emirzade has been recognised as the top-listed seller for the Barry Plant Group. He is also ranked as one of the top property listers in the country, and in January 2021 alone he listed 31 properties and sold 22 of them.

Mr Emirzade was a guest speaker at AREC 2019, one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest real estate conferences, and has also shared his wisdom as a speaker at several Barry Plant conferences.

He has also been recognised for his achievements with awards from Rate My Agent and Barry Plant.

Elite Agent caught up with Mr Emirzade in September 2019, after he had been named the top lister and seller for the Barry Plant Group for the third time in a row.

Back then, he had some simple advice for those trying to replicate his success: “Pick up the phone,” he said.  “It’s what got me where I am today.”

Mr Emirzade emigrated from Cyprus in 1997, and after returning to his home country for a decade, which included a two-year stint in the military, he returned to Australia and started his career at Barry Plant Geelong in 2014.

He worked in the suburbs of Corio and Norlane, which were areas that weren’t particularly attractive to real estate agents at the time.

“Not many agents wanted to work in that area, because when I started the median property price was $180K. It just wasn’t a very appealing area for other agents, but I saw it as a real opportunity,” he said.

As of December 2020, the median property price in Corio was $388,750.

“I changed my mindset pretty early on, where I started focusing on volume of sales. I created business, marketing, and prospecting plans. I had a goal to sell 200 properties in one year, which everyone said was impossible.”

In his third year, he proved his doubters wrong by selling 207 properties.

Mr Emirzade was quick to sing the praises of his current team at Barry Plant Geelong, which includes Callum McDonald and Zac Carter and operations manager Aysha Maxton.

“Having the right team behind you is vitally important, and the team I work with are incredibly hard-working and so committed to everything they do.”
