AUSTROS finalists get set for the Auctioneering Championships

The 2025 Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AUSTROS) will feature novice auctioneers for the first time, marking a significant expansion of the region's premier auctioneering competition.

The Real Estate Institute of South Australia (REISA) is co-hosting the event from May 13-15 in Adelaide alongside the Real Estate Institute of Australia’s National Awards for Excellence (NAFE).

The championships bring together top auctioneers from across Australia and New Zealand in a high-pressure contest that tests skill, charisma, and performance under pressure.

The newly introduced Australasian Novice Auctioneering Championships will run alongside the main event, providing a platform for emerging talent to showcase their abilities in a competitive environment.

REIA President, Leanne Pilkington, said it was important to showcase the industry’s upcoming talent.

“Introducing the Novice Championships is a great initiative and demonstrates our commitment to fostering talent and ensuring the future of auctioneering is in confident, capable hands,” Ms Pilkington said.

The main competition will feature experienced auctioneers from across Australia and New Zealand, including Clarence White from Menck White Auctioneers representing NSW, Bronte Manuel from Toop + Toop representing SA, and Paul Tzamalis from The Auction Company representing Victoria.

New Zealand will be represented by four competitors from the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ), including Robert Tulp from Apollo Auctions and Mark McGoldrick from Harcourts.

The event is jointly presented by REIA and REINZ, highlighting its significance across the Australasian real estate sector.

The novice competition has attracted 13 up-and-coming auctioneers from various states and territories, including Campbell Jones from Blackshaw Manuka in ACT, Daniel Carter from Cooley Auctions in NSW, and Matthew Rossi from Nelson Alexander in Victoria.

REISA CEO Andrea Heading said the state was excited about hosting the expanded championships.

“We are thrilled to host AUSTROS 2025 in Adelaide and to celebrate emerging talent alongside seasoned professionals in what will be a truly inclusive and inspiring event for the industry,” Ms Heading said.

The National Awards for Excellence, scheduled for May 15, will cap off the event by recognising outstanding achievements across the real estate industry.

NAFE is Australia’s only national, independently judged and practitioner-led real estate awards program, with winners selected by an expert panel.

The combined events showcase the real estate industry’s commitment to excellence and professional development, bringing together practitioners from across Australia and New Zealand to celebrate achievement and foster new talent.
