REIWA joins forces with The Salvation Army to bring Christmas joy

Agents across Western Australia have teamed up with the Salvation Army to help bring joy to families who struggle with the extra pressure of Christmas.

The Announcement:

REIWA and its agents are once again proud to be throwing support behind The Salvation Army’s Annual Christmas Appeal and are urging all West Australians to donate to this worthy cause.

The festive season is meant to be a joyous time, however for some families, it can be extremely difficult with all the added pressures the cost of Christmas brings.

REIWA CEO Neville Pozzi said with more than 14,000 West Aussies expected to turn to the Salvos for assistance, this holiday season was a better time than any to dig deep and help those who need it most.

“It’s been a challenging two years to say the least, which is why we are strongly encouraging all West Australians to get behind the great work the Salvos do on a daily basis to help those who are most vulnerable in our community,” Mr Pozzi said.

The Salvation Army Public Relations Secretary Warren Palmer said this year, the Salvos anticipate the needs of West Aussies at Christmas will reach a new peak under the pressure of the pandemic.

“Increased isolation, financial stress and mental health impacts of COVID-19 this year will continue to exacerbate other pre-existing issues. The Salvos want to leave no one in need this Christmas, and we need the generosity of the community to once again partner with us in support of locals doing it really tough,” Mr Palmer said.

“Christmas offers us a time to reflect and connect with one another and celebrate the joy of community. This connection will be more important than ever this year, so we encourage us all to look out for each other, check in on family and embrace the true meaning of Christmas.”

How to donate

Mr Pozzi said the Christmas Appeal will be accepting physical donations this year after going online in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but online donations are always welcome.

“From 15 November to 13 December, I encourage you to visit one of the 42 real estate agency collection points across Perth and regionally, to donate unwrapped gifts or non-perishable food items, and meet the REIWA agents who are committed to bringing Christmas joy to those in need,” Mr Pozzi said.

“As we have seen in the eight years of partnering with the Salvos’ for this initiative, a little generosity can go a long way in bringing joy to these families at Christmas time.”
