Ray White Western Australia recognised its top performers in sales, property management and administration at its annual awards night on Friday, even as the network’s CEO warned members that conditions have shifted sharply since the start of the year.
Mark Whiteman told the room the past 12 months had been another significant year of growth, with the network’s share of the WA market stronger than ever, he said.
“The market was strong for most of the year and the strength of our people meant we were able to take advantage of it,” Mark said.
“Our share of the Western Australian market has never been as strong as it is right now and it’s rising, thanks to all of you wonderful people.”
But he said the market has since turned.
“Listing numbers have risen three hundred percent since Christmas and sales numbers have slowed by more than 20 per cent,” Mark said.
“We need to change. The challenge for us all is to adapt to these new conditions. The solutions our customers need in this new environment are different from six or 12 months ago.”
Ray White Dalkeith | Claremont took out Top Office for Settled Commission for an eighth consecutive year, and its principal, Vivien Yap, was named Top Principal for Settled Commission and the network’s number four International Principal.
Vivien said joining Ray White nine years ago wasn’t a decision she’d ever expected to make.
“I never thought I would ever do it, but boy, was that an amazing decision,” she said.
She credited the network for her team’s results.
“We have success superpowers because of Ray White, because of Dan and his family, Mark Whiteman, and the entire corporate team,” Vivien said.
“More importantly, it’s our people at work – I really, really love my work family. I hope next year we’ll still be standing up here. Hopefully, we’ll double down and work harder – but always smarter.”
Stephen Cole of Ray White Broome took out dual honours, winning Top Salesperson for both Settled Commission and Number of Sales. Shahbaj Brar, principal of Ray White BPG, was again named Top Principal for Number of Sales.
Stocker Preston was named Top Office Group for Settled Commission, while Ray White Geraldton | Dongara took Top Office for Number of Sales.
In property management, Ray White Karratha was recognised as Top Office for Performance and Ray White Rockingham | Baldivis took Top Property Management Office for Net Growth. Georgia Higgs of Ray White Port Hedland was named Property Manager of the Year, and Doug Corby of Ray White Rockingham | Baldivis was named Property Management BDM of the Year.
Mark said the network’s results in the year ahead would depend on how its members respond to the changed conditions.
“Our success in the year ahead is in our hands and in our ability and tenacity to rise to and meet this challenge,” he said.
