New A Home for All Foundation invites the property industry to spend A Night Without Home this October
The Australian property industry is uniting behind a new foundation to raise and direct funds towards fighting homelessness, building on the existing impactful work of agencies across the country.
Channelling the industryโs reach and influence, A Home for All Foundation will drive awareness, raise funds, and build long-term change for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
The industry-led Foundation will be guided by an Advisory Committee of 12 leaders from the housing, homelessness, and property sectors.
Following a structured best-practice philanthropic process, the Committee will direct all funds raised to homelessness and housing insecurity charitable organisations.
With the backing of Australiaโs leading digital property business, REA Group, every dollar raised for the Foundation will go directly to the cause and not administrative costs.
The Foundationโs newly elected Advisory Committee Chair and CEO of LJ Hooker Group, Christine Mikhael said A Home for All Foundation presents an opportunity for the industry to rally, and to make a significant positive impact as a collective.
โThe property industry is uniquely positioned to address the issue of homelessness and housing insecurity. Every day we help our clients buy, sell, and rent homes, and we have a responsibility to help Australians establish a home. Our work is closely linked to the heart of the issue, and A Home for All Foundation is an opportunity to support those who really need it,โ Christine said.
โOn average, 122,000 Australians donโt have a safe and secure place to sleep each night. This doesnโt necessarily mean sleeping on the street, it might mean sleeping on a friendโs couch, or in a car. Homelessness isnโt always visible. As a collective, we can build on the impactful charitable work so many in our industry have been doing for many years.โ
The Foundationโs first initiative is an invitation to the industry to take part in A Night Without Home this October.
Supported by powerful imagery designed to highlight the 94% of homelessness that hides from plain sight, the national fundraising campaign asks individuals or teams to spend time in the shoes of someone facing homelessness, with a range of challenges to choose from.
Participation could be a single donation, spending a night without the comforts of home and fundraising for the cause, or committing to supporting the Foundation year-round.
