The prestigious award honours individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to the housing sector at the highest levels of excellence and integrity.
Mr Monaco’s involvement with HIA spans nearly four decades, beginning in the mid-1980s and encompassing numerous leadership positions.
Mr Monaco has served in various influential roles throughout his career, including Chair of key Western Australia committees, WA Regional President from 2005 to 2007, and National President of HIA from 2017 to 2019. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping important industry initiatives.
As a Director and Partner at GV Lawyers, Monaco has focused his legal and professional work on housing industry issues, with a particular emphasis on housing affordability.
His expertise has helped drive significant improvements in construction practices and regulatory frameworks.
HIA Managing Director Jocelyn Martin highlighted Monaco’s commitment to the industry and broader community.
“Giving back to the community and industry has been an important part of Pino’s professional life,” Ms Martin said.
“Pino was on the National Board when the HIA Charitable Foundation was launched and he has been an integral part of its continued development.”
Monaco’s advocacy has extended beyond traditional industry concerns.
He spearheaded the award-winning HIA WA Name and Shame program aimed at reducing onsite crime, while consistently championing housing affordability and regulation reform throughout his career.
His dedication to improving mental health in the residential construction industry has been particularly noteworthy.
Mr Monaco has served as Chair of the HIA Charitable Foundation’s Management Committee, overseeing its ongoing support of mental health organization Beyond Blue.
The award was presented during HIA’s National Presidents Dinner in Melbourne.
Named after the late Sir Phillip Lynch, a former member of parliament and advocate for the Australian housing industry, the award represents the highest recognition in the sector.
Monaco joins an illustrious group of previous recipients, including General Manager of May Constructions Colleen May, Managing Director of Meriton Harry Triguboff, Managing Director of the Hickinbotham Group Michael Hickingbotham, Managing Director of building products company Brickworks Lindsay Partridge, and Clarendon Homes founder Peter Campbell.
