To New Beginnings: Nikki Gogan Moves to Caporn Young

After 30 years in Northam, WA and 11 and a half years as a member of the Hollett & Lawrence Real Estate team, Nikki Gogan has moved to Fremantle to be a part of Caporn Young, working closely with Associate Director and RERN Hall of Fame winner Stefanie Dobro.

Speaking to Samantha McLean yesterday, Nikki says while she is excited about the move says it’s been a big decision for her. “I appreciate that lots of people change jobs quite often, but this is such a massive thing for me. But I have no hesitation – it just feels so right, and I think Stefanie is amazing.”

For an agent, it can be challenging to re-establish your personal brand in a completely new area, which is now Nikki’s number one career goal. While she admits that people are likely to recognise her from her time spent on The Bachelor (2016), she is keen to get out into the community and for people to recognise her as a proud member of the Caporn Young Team. “I appreciate that people might see me, and recognise me, but my focus is to be recognised as an agent, first and foremost.”

Maintaining her successful career by keeping her professional and personal life separate, Nikki also says that during the times when the show had ‘a lot going on’ that she was grateful that she had her career to keep her busy. “Real Estate has always been my safe place, and something I know and something I love. So I never lost focus on that.”

Having spent pretty much her whole life in Northam, which is about an hour and a half outside of Perth, Nikki says she is also looking forward to the change of pace. And while the market and the way things operate are a bit different in the city, she says she is excited to take things up a notch.

“I’m expecting to be on the go all the time. The best years, (or year), I had in my career in Northam was really fast paced. I crammed so much into that year. I’d set my targets and I thought they were unachievable targets and I ended up exceeding them, which was fantastic. I was busy, but I was fulfilled as well.”

And meeting people shouldn’t be a problem for Nikki, who says she loves talking to people. “Getting out and meeting people is my favourite thing. I guess coming from the country I’m used to walking down the street and smiling and say hello to everyone on the way.”

Gogan laughs. “People say that’s not going to happen in the city, and I thought, why not? Why can’t I just walk down the street and say ‘hi’.”

The Caporn Young team are equally excited to have Nikki on board, and Associate Director Stefanie Dobro says she is a natural fit with her warmth, friendliness and engaging style. “We are really pleased to welcome Nikki to CY, and I am personally thrilled to have her joining my team. She has been a high performer in the Northam market over the past 11 years and we believe her warm and engaging style combined with her high professional standards are a great fit with our brand.”
