LJ Hooker celebrates its 93rd anniversary by partnering with Lifeline

LJ Hooker has announced an official partnership with Lifeline, which is aimed at helping the charity’s crisis support services and suicide prevention.

The announcement coincides with LJ Hooker Foundation Day, which marks 93 years since LJ Hooker first opened for business on 20 September, 1928 on the sandy shores of Maroubra in Sydney.

Lifeline will be the Foundation’s third national charity beneficiary for this financial year.

LJ Hooker Foundation spokeswoman, Sarah Dickson, said the new partnership with Lifeline comes at a crucial and challenging time for Australians.

“We’re honoured to be supporting Lifeline and the critical work they do to help Australians by providing confidential crisis support, available 24-hours a day, seven days a week,” she said.

“This partnership is well aligned to our LJ Hooker values, that real estate is about people not houses, and is significantly important as much of the country battles with the mental health impact of COVID-19 and ongoing lockdowns across various states.

“We are committed to supporting mental health and wellbeing and have commemorated our partnership with Lifeline with a $10,000 donation.

“Over the balance of 2021 and throughout 2022, our network will get behind the partnership by fundraising and promoting Lifeline’s life changing services.”

Lifeline Australia Business Development Manager Bronwyn Wood explained the support service has been experiencing unprecedented call numbers.

“Currently, we are receiving a call for help every 30 seconds. So now, more than ever, funding is critical to meeting the demands of today,” Ms Wood said.

“Lifeline has been there for Australians experiencing crisis since 1963. Thank you, LJ Hooker, for joining us on our mission to be there for all Australians, so that no person need face their darkest moments alone.”

The LJ Hooker Foundation is the charitable arm of the LJ Hooker network, and in FY21 donated over $70,000 to help those in need, including charities like the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Australia, and headspace.

To date, the Foundation has raised more than $8.4 million.

LJ Hooker Foundation Day aims to celebrate the network’s shared commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

“Through the LJ Hooker Foundation, local offices can engage in their communities and boost their social impact, which is especially important during these unprecedented times,” Ms Dickson said.

“Supporting the LJ Hooker Foundation gives the real estate network greater purpose beyond the day-to-day, while simultaneously providing much needed funds for those in need.”

LJ Hooker launched the LJ Hooker Foundation in 2016 to consolidate the grass-roots fundraising activities of its network for major donations to charity partners, now including Lifeline.
