Juwai.com announced today the appointment of Georg Chmiel to its Board of Directors. Mr Chmiel has nearly 17 years of experience directly in the online real estate and property industry.
Chmiel is currently Group CFO and Director International of iflix, the streaming entertainment service available to one billion consumers across 18 markets throughout Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. He also Chairman of iCar Asia (ASX: ICQ) and a few other company boards.
Before iflix, Mr Chmiel was Managing Director and CEO of iProperty Group, the largest operator of real estate advertising portals in Southeast Asia. He led iProperty’s expansion into a total of five Asian countries and its 2015 sale to the REA Group for AU$751 million. He earlier served as
CEO and Managing Director of LJ Hooker Group, one of Asia Pacific’s largest real estate and mortgage broking networks.
As CFO and General Manager of International for the REA Group for nearly six years until October 2010, Mr Chmiel worked in tandem with the CEO to boost Australia’s largest real estate portal from a market capitalisation of $100M to $1.6B, making it one of the top 100 ASX companies by market capitalisation. During that period revenues increased by eight times and profits by ten times.
