Jonny Tighe opens McGrath office in Gloucester

McGrath Estate Agents has expanded its rural NSW presence with Jonny Tighe and his wife Milly opening a new office in Gloucester, at the foothills of the Barrington Tops.

McGrath Estate Agents has strengthened its commitment to rural NSW with the opening of a new office in the picturesque town of Gloucester, located just a few hours’ drive from Newcastle and Port Macquarie, and three hours from Sydney.

The new office will be led by Principal Jonny Tighe and his wife and business partner Milly, who have strong ties with the community spanning more than 20 years. Milly was born and raised in Gloucester.

Chris Mourd, Head of Franchise Network for McGrath, confirmed the company’s commitment to expansion in rural NSW.

“Gloucester is quite unique in the NSW landscape boasting exquisite river front properties with expansive mountain views,” Mr Mourd said.

“We see Gloucester as an important gateway to the New England, Manning Valley and Upper Hunter region while also benefitting from its close proximity to Newcastle and the Central Coast where McGrath holds a significant footprint.”

Mr Tighe is relocating from the Southern Highlands where he built his real estate career and sees strong parallels between the two regions.

“I see strong parallels between the two regions, both attract a mix of lifestyle, rural, and residential buyers and sellers,” Mr Tighe said.

“I’m confident this move presents a unique opportunity to bring new energy, a client-first approach, and proven results to this community.”

The move includes acquiring a rent roll with 150 properties under management in a tightly held district with limited real estate competition.

“The area hasn’t seen a fresh agency offering in some time, creating strong potential for growth and market impact,” he said.

McGrath Gloucester is a rebrand of Hannaford Stock and Land Australia and will include local agent Peter Markey who has over 33 years of experience selling in Gloucester Farmland.

The office will service the area from Nowendoc Mountain in the north to Stroud in the south to Krambach in the east to the edge of Barrington Tops in the west, with key suburbs including Gloucester, Barrington, Stroud and the Farming district.

Mr Tighe believes Gloucester’s appeal comes from its natural beauty, community feel, and affordability, attracting retirees, lifestyle seekers, rural buyers, and investors.

“Gloucester’s appeal is further enhanced by its mild climate, excellent sporting facilities, growing tourism profile, and strategic location, offering a relaxed, well-serviced lifestyle within reach of the coast and major centres,” Mr Tighe said.

The town recently ranked No 3 in the NSW Top Tourism Towns for 2024 and 2025.

Mr Tighe believes his team will stand out in the market by bringing fresh energy and a modern approach, backed by McGrath’s vast network.

“We are proud to be the only team in the area led by a selling principal who lives locally,” he said.

“We are confident that with our commitment to deliver high quality service levels, accountability and results will set a new benchmark for the region.”
