Jake Paul purchases Georgia hunting ranch for US$39 million

YouTube personality and boxer Jake Paul has acquired a 5,653-acre sporting ranch in Georgia's Decatur County for a record US$39 million, using winnings from his victory over Mike Tyson.

The property, known as Southlands, was purchased with approximately US$30 million Paul earned from defeating heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in their highly publicised 2024 match.

The plantation came on the market in October for US$42.5 million, with Paul closing the deal at the end of April, according to Mansion Global.

Jon Kohler, who co-listed the property with Walter Hatchett of Jon Kohler & Associates, said it was a significant transaction.ย

“This is one of the largest recreational land sales in Georgia history,” Kohler said.

“Southlands is an institution; it’s like owning your own professional football team.

โ€œYou get history, culture and traditions, and you’re a land steward dictating its future.”

The 28-year-old Paul revealed his plans for the property during an appearance on “The Iced Coffee Hour” podcast.

“I’ve wanted to buy a ranch for the last 15 years,” Paul said.

“It’s always been a dream of mine. I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt and build a racetrack.”

The sprawling property features impressive amenities including a remodelled 4,884-square-foot main lodge with eight bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms.

The ranch also boasts numerous outbuildings, including a new four-stall barn for horseback and quail hunts, a manager’s house, a guest house, and various utility structures.

Southlands is renowned for its natural features, with less than 3% of the property consisting of wetlands. It includes frontage on Lake Seminole, a stocked lake, a duck pond, a 60-acre irrigated field, and 5 miles of spring creeks complete with waterfalls.

The property has a rich history spanning more than a century.

Its original 26,000 acres were assembled by pioneering conservationist Herbert Stoddard, co-founder of the land stewardship nonprofit Tall Timbers.

Paul, who launched his YouTube channel in 2014 and began his boxing career in 2018, has won 11 of his 12 matches.

His bout with Tyson was streamed by Netflix to a record 65 million viewers in November 2024, resulting in a unanimous decision victory for Paul.

The social media star expressed his connection to rural living, noting that during his childhood, he had spent time at a cabin with his father.

“I look forward to growing my own vegetables at Southlands,” Paul said.
