Ian Thorpe looking to make a splash with sale of Woollahra home

Olympic champion Ian Thorpe is selling his luxury Woollahra home in Sydney with a price guide of $3.7 million.

Thorpe, a five-time gold medal winner, purchased the property in 2017 for $2.75 million and is now aiming to downsize in the affluent area, according to Domain.

Located at 6/89 Ocean Street, the 216sq m residence is a standout in a boutique security complex of just six homes.

It occupies a unique spot at the rear of the complex, offering complete privacy from the main road.

The multi-level home boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with convenient double parking.

Each level of the house has its own bathroom, with the third bedroom located on the top floor, doubling as a second living space.

The fourth bedroom offers the flexibility to be converted into a home office.

Constructed of solid brick, the building retains a 1860s mansion facade and underwent significant transformation in the 1980s.

Despite its historical exterior, the home is equipped with modern amenities like ducted air conditioning and a heated pool and spa.

Local amenities, including Queen Street village, Edgecliff Station, dining options, and Trumper Park are just a short walk away.

Courtney Wong of Black Diamondz Property Concierge, the lead selling agent, described the property as ideal for professional couples or families with older children.

“It’s the best one in the building. It’s right at the back, and you don’t get any noise from the street,” Ms Wong said.

“It’s completely private and secluded. For people who can’t afford a house, it is a stepping stone.”

An auction has been set for September 16 at 1 pm. Agents Courtney Wong, Monika Tu, and Jad Khattar of Black Diamondz Property Concierge are handling the sale.
