Harcourts Foundation delivers backpack beds to Brisbane charities

The Harcourts Foundation has delivered 48 backpack beds to two Brisbane-based charities supporting people experiencing homelessness, following the success of its inaugural golf day fundraiser in May 2025.

Paul Slater from Northwest Community Group Inc and Beau Haywood, Nourish Street Inc, visited the Harcourts leadership team to take delivery of the essential sleeping equipment, which was purchased entirely from proceeds raised at the Foundation’s first golf event.

The event, held at the prestigious Glades Golf Club in Robina, brought together over 95 participants from across Australia and raised approximately $7,000.

Pauline Smith, Head of The Harcourts Foundation, expressed her delight with the outcome.

“The aim of the Harcourts Foundation is to make a meaningful impact in our local communities, and we are elated with the success of our first golf day. We’re thrilled to share that every dollar went directly towards purchasing 48 backpack beds from our Foundation partner Backpack Bed for Homeless.”

The backpack beds will support the work of both recipient organisations in Brisbane’s Northside. Nourish Street Inc, founded by Beau Haywood, his partner Jenny Ignacio, and Beau’s sons Kane, Zion, and Isaac, provides hot meals, groceries, tents, and essential supplies to over 100 people five days a week across Moreton Bay and Pine Rivers.

What began as a self-funded, family-led effort has grown into a registered charity with a team of dedicated volunteers.

Northwest Community Group Inc was established in May 2023 by Paul Slater.

The organisation operates under the motto “No judgement, only love” and provides clothing, toiletries, sleeping bags, tents, shoes, socks, underwear, blankets, food, and other essential items to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of doing so.

Beau Haywood welcomed the donation, stating: “These backpack beds will make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Brisbane’s Northside.”

Paul Slater echoed this sentiment, adding: “The Northwest Community Group is committed to supporting the most vulnerable in our community, and we are delighted to partner with the Harcourts Foundation to provide these essential resources.”

Adrian Knowles, CEO of Harcourts Australia, praised the collaborative effort behind the successful fundraiser. “This golf day has showcased the incredible community spirit and drive within our Harcourts network. Our mission extends beyond real estate โ€“ it’s about making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those around us. The success of this event is a testament to what we can achieve together.”
