Greg Brydon has been named the 2026 REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year, completing a double after winning the 2026 Australasian Auctioneering Championship earlier this year.
Brydon is the general manager of Apollo Auctions Australasia.
According to Apollo Auctions, securing both titles in the same calendar year puts Brydon among a select group of auctioneers to have achieved the feat.
His Australasian championship joins the three won by Apollo founder and director Justin Nickerson, in 2016, 2017 and 2019 – bringing four Australasian championship wins to the business’s leadership.
Joe Horton, an auctioneer at Nelson Alexander and a participant in the Apollo Auctions Academy, finished runner-up in the REIV competition.
Nickerson said the results reflected the quality of people involved with Apollo.
“Winning either of these titles is an outstanding achievement. To win both in the same year takes an enormous amount of preparation, discipline and the ability to perform under pressure,” Nickerson said.
“Joe deserves enormous credit. To finish among Victoria’s best is a significant achievement in its own right, and we’re incredibly proud to have him as part of the Apollo Auctions Academy.”
Brydon, speaking on the result, said it was a proud personal milestone.
“To win both the REIV and Australasian titles in the same year is something I’m really proud of. There are plenty of people behind the scenes who have helped me get here, and I’m very grateful to them,” Brydon said.
“A big thank you also to Paul Tzamalis, Harry Li, Luke Banitsiotis & Jake McIntyre for pushing me every single week over the past few years. Being surrounded by people of that calibre keeps you working to get better.”
Brydon added that he valued passing that experience on.
“The part I really enjoy at Apollo is taking what we learn and sharing it with our team and the agents we work with. These awards mean a lot, and being able to use that experience to help others is a big part of it,” he said.
The Apollo Auctions Academy provides mentoring and practical development for auctioneers, drawing on the experience of established industry figures.
Apollo also congratulated Joseph Tilley of Barry Plant, who won the 2026 REIV Novice Auctioneer of the Year.
