Sarah Broad has completed the acquisition of Brisbane commercial property firm Kelly & Co Property, the same agency that gave her a start in the industry just five years ago.

Sarah, who spent 17 years in public and investor relations before switching to commercial sales, purchased the business from founder Pat Kelly.

The move makes Kelly & Co one of a small number of female-owned commercial property agencies in Australia.

“I love what I do and I love the business and the company has potential for growth,” Sarah told the Courier Mail.

“I’ll be keeping the name of the business.”

Pat Kelly established the firm in 2021 after leaving Burgess Rawson, where he led the Queensland operation for 25 years.

He will stay on as a consultant in the near term.

The business has relocated to new premises in Browning Street, West End.

Sarah first connected with Pat a decade ago when she was running her own PR company and took on the Burgess Rawson Queensland franchise as a client.

When Pat started his own firm, Sarah made the jump from PR into sales – and hit the ground running.

She won the REIQ Rising Star of the Year in 2022.

“Pat has been synonymous with commercial real estate and investment sales in Brisbane and Queensland for more than 30 years, and it’s an honour to carry his legacy forward,” Sarah said.

“He’s the kind of person who can’t go anywhere without pointing to a property he’s sold – not out of ego, but simply because he’s been involved in so much of the market over the decades.

“More than that, he has built longstanding client relationships and earned the trust of owners and investors who value his advice and market insight.”

Sarah said she plans to lean on her promotional background as she grows the business.
