After more than two decades, Dr. Dre has sold his iconic Malibu beachfront estate in an off-market deal for US$16.5 million (approximately AUD$26.4 million). Purchased in 2000 for US$4.8 million, the contemporary Carbon Beach property has delivered a staggering return on the seven-time Grammy winner’s investment.
Spanning nearly 9,000 square feet across three levels, the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence boasts panoramic Pacific Ocean views, a private gym, an ocean-facing recording studio, and luxe features like a sauna, boutique-style walk-in closet, and expansive oceanfront balconies.
Located in the exclusive beachfront enclave nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach” for its ultra-wealthy residents, the contemporary-style residence spans nearly 9,000 square feet across three levels.
The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom property features panoramic Pacific Ocean views through expansive picture windows and glass sliding doors throughout.
The kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, black countertops, and blonde wood cabinetry with a breakfast nook. The entertainment area connects to a living room with floor-to-ceiling stone walls, a wood-burning fireplace, and a sprawling balcony with fire pit.
The primary suite occupies the upper level and includes a boutique-style walk-in closet, sauna, two reading nooks, and an oceanfront balcony.
Other amenities include a gym, an ocean-facing recording studio, and an office.
The seven-time Grammy winner first attempted to sell the coastal property in 2012, listing it between US$11 million and US$12.5 million.
Mansion Global reported he relisted the home in 2022 at US$20 million, but the asking price fluctuated over the years before the off-market sale concluded.
The sale is part of an ongoing consolidation of Dr. Dre’s property portfolio; he sold his Woodland Hills home in 2019 for US$4.5 million and his Calabasas mansion in 2023 for US$6 million.
The producer reportedly maintains residences in Pacific Palisades and a Brentwood estate, which AD writes he purchased from Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen in 2014 for US$40 million.
