Charles Tarbey honoured with REINSW’s top award

The top honour presented at the 2017 Real Estate Institute of New South Wales Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner, the Woodrow Weight Award for outstanding service to REINSW and the profession has been awarded to Charles Tarbey chairman and owner of Century 21 Australasia.

REINSW President John Cunningham paid tribute to Mr Tarbey as a true leader in the industry with incredible vision.

โ€œCharles has dedicated his life to the real estate industry and has been a great supporter of REINSW throughout his career,โ€ Mr Cunningham said.

โ€œHe is one of the greatest real estate visionaries, particularly where technology is concerned and has trained thousands of real estate agents.

โ€œCharles frequently addresses business leaders across Australia and the globe on real estate related matters.

โ€œFrom humble beginnings, Charles sold his first home at the age of eighteen and three years later purchased a Real Estate business.

“In 1983 he commenced Combined Real Estate, which became a well-known Sydney and New South Wales Real Estate Franchise Network that Charles built to 56 offices before merging with Century 21 following its purchase some 22 years ago,โ€œ Mr Cunningham said.

He is the author of real estate books; ‘Profit Driven Real Estate’ and ‘Listing Rich’.

The Woodrow Weight Award is named after the legendary REINSW President, who was the first Australian ever to be elected World President of the International Real Estate Federation.

โ€œI am extremely honoured to have received this award and to be recognised amongst a group of my industry peers for whom I have great respect,โ€ said Charles Tarbey.

โ€œReal estate practitioners are amongst the hardest working and most skilled practitioners in Australia and I believe the value of their skillset will only continue to grow in the face of shifting market dynamics.

โ€œThe traditional elements of real estate such as communication and negotiation are irreplaceable, so I believe the future is bright for agents and the valuable role they play in property transactions,โ€ said Charles Tarbey.

This is the second year running a member of the Century 21 network has received the award, with Wayne Stewart, Principal of Century 21 Novocastrian Newcastle and previous REINSW president, achieving the honour in 2016.

Last nightโ€™s 20th annual REINSW Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner, was held at the Exhibition Hall, Australian Technology Park, Sydney.
