The Announcement:

Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) and Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) have today announced the highly anticipated Australasian Auctioneering Championship (AUSTROS) is returning in 2022.

Taking place from 16-18th October, this year’s AUSTROS will see industry leading property auctioneers descend on Sydney to battle for the pinnacle industry award.

AUSTROS 2022 is set to be bigger than ever, as the annual event returns after two years of consecutive cancellations due to COVID-19 restrictions.

REIA President, Hayden Groves said after an overwhelming 24 months, REIA is delighted to be bringing the industry back together for this highly anticipated event.

“The past two years have seen the real estate industry boom unlike ever before. With buyer demand at an all-time high, competition for property sold by auction is fierce.

“We expect some interesting skills and tactics to have developed throughout this period and are excited to unite the industry to share best practice and celebrate together,” said Mr Groves.

REINZ Chief Executive Officer, Jen Baird said that this year’s trans-Tasman event is expected to see a large turnout.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the industry-leading property auctioneers from across Australia and New Zealand. This year’s AUSTROS is expected to be bigger than ever with an exciting lineup of networking events and of course the competition for all to join and enjoy,” said Ms Baird.

AUSTROS Committee Chair and Chief Judge, Thomas McGlynn said he’s looking forward to seeing new talent emerge and existing talent battle it out at this year’s competition.

“The housing market across Australia and New Zealand has experienced exceptional growth since our last AUSTROS. This year’s contestants will have no doubt had plenty of practice, and we’re excited to welcome both new and experienced talent back to battle for the industry’s most prestigious award,” said Mr McGlynn.
