Actor Jason Schwartzman lists California cottage at slight loss

Hollywood actor Jason Schwartzman has placed his Tudor-style cottage in Toluca Lake on the market for US$1.749 million, slightly less than what he paid for the property less than a year ago.

Records show Jason and his wife Brady Cunningham purchased the newly remodelled home in October 2024 for US$1.75 million (AUD$2.6 million), meaning they stand to take a small loss on the transaction if it sells at the current asking price, according to Mercury News.

The modest property spans 2,323 square feet and sits on a 7,001-square-foot lot, featuring a total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms between the main house and guest quarters.

The main residence offers an open floor plan with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while a separate 634-square-foot guest house sits above the garage, complete with its own bedroom, bathroom, and full kitchen.

Danny Emmer of Douglas Elliman, who holds the listing, initially placed the property on the market in August for US$1.8 million before reducing the price to its current ask in September.

The Tudor-style cottage features preserved red oak flooring throughout and maintains much of its century-old character through details like latch windows and built-ins.

The kitchen combines modern amenities with vintage charm, featuring quartz countertops, open shelving, a farmhouse sink, and a refurbished vintage stove alongside a casual dining area.

The primary suite includes an upgraded bathroom, a walk-in closet, and direct access to the outdoor patio areas that surround the property.

Jason, 45, has maintained a steady career in Hollywood since his acting debut as the lead in Wes Anderson’s “Rushmore” in 1998.

His family connections to the Coppola dynasty through his mother Talia Shire have led to several collaborative projects with his cousins.

The actor has recently been expanding his portfolio with voice work as The Spot in Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy and will appear in the upcoming supernatural fantasy series “Talamasca: The Secret Order” on AMC.
