JLL appoints Tim O’Connor to Head of Leasing Advisory Australia and New Zealand

JLL appoints Tim O'Connor as Head of Leasing Advisory for Australia and New Zealand, signaling strategic growth in the region.

Global property services firm JLL has appointed Tim O’Connor as Head of Leasing Advisory for Australia and New Zealand in a move that signals the company’s commitment to client service and growth in the leasing portfolio.

He will lead transaction teams across the office, logistics and industrial sectors to assist both landlords and tenants in navigating the complexities of the leasing market.

Tim will continue to serve on JLL’s Global Office Leasing Board while driving leasing operations in Australia and New Zealand.

“I’m incredibly proud to take on this expanded role and lead our Leasing Advisory business across Australia and New Zealand,” said O’Connor.

“In the face of evolving market and economic conditions, the opportunity to support both investors and occupiers across the office, industrial and logistics sectors is a challenge we embrace. Our focus is on ensuring our clients are best positioned to thrive in a dynamic landscape,” he said.

Tim’s expanded role will be complemented by several key appointments within the Australian Leasing Advisory operations team: James Montague as Head of Office Leasing Australia, Bianca Docker as Head of Growth for Leasing Advisory for Australia and New Zealand, Antonia Foweraker as Head of Office Leasing NSW, and Ben Turner as Head of Office Leasing Sydney CBD.

JLL Interim CEO Australia and New Zealand Luke Billiau said the appointments position the company for accelerated regional growth.

“These strategic leadership changes demonstrate our commitment to the Australia and New Zealand markets and our confidence in the exceptional talent within our organisation. Tim’s expanded role, combined with these key appointments, strengthens our ability to serve clients across the region and positions us strongly for future growth opportunities in both countries,” said Billiau.

O’Connor brings more than three decades of commercial real estate experience to the role.

Since joining JLL in 2011 as Head of NSW Leasing and advancing to Head of Leasing for Australia in 2013, he has led JLL’s efforts on city shaping office leasing projects for industry leaders with recent and current projects including Barangaroo South, Salesforce Tower, Chifley South and Victoria Cross Tower in Sydney, 60 King William Street in Adelaide, and 205 North Quay in Brisbane.

His career began at FPD Raine and Horne Sydney in 1995, followed by significant international experience based in Asia from 2001 to 2010.

Tim worked with Savills Hong Kong until 2004 and then CBRE in Hong Kong and Shanghai before returning to Australia in late 2010.

During this time, Tim worked on major office developments across Asia for clients including Sun Hung Kai, AIG, Henderson Land and Swire Properties, while also representing major corporate occupiers.

Andrew Ballantyne, who served as Acting Head of Leasing Advisory for the past four months, will return to his substantive role as Managing Director NSW and Head of Research Australasia.
