‘Still undervalued’: The Agency recruit Rebecca Fearon says Balmain market has plenty left in the tank

The Agency has announced the appointment of Rebecca Fearon as a Property Partner, based in Balmain, with Ms Fearon saying the prestige market still has strong growth potential.

Ms Fearon was “born and bred” in Balmain and has spent more than 25 years working in the local real estate market.

She has achieved the current highest sale price for Birchgrove with 2 and 2A River St selling for $14.62 million as well as Balmain East at 4 St Marys St, which sold for $9 million.

She also holds street records for 24 Fitzroy Ave, Balmain, at $4.28 million, 50 Terry St, Rozelle, at $4.38 million and 17 Gladstone St, Balmain, at $2.3 million.

Ms Fearon said Balmain and surrounding suburbs had witnessed a surge in interest from downsizing buyers from the Eastern Suburbs and Lower North Shore in recent years.

She expected the trend to continue in 2023.

“I believe the area is undervalued in terms of the top end of the market,” Ms Fearon said.

Proximity to Barangaroo, ferry access to the city and new connections via the Westconnex motorway were all helping to boost the Balmain pensinsula’s profile, she added.

In particular, interest from prestige buyers would continue to be strong in the year ahead.

“I think people that have money have a lot of it, and they certainly want to invest in real estate,” she said.

“If they want to buy a property then budget is not really a concern.

“It’s more about finding the right home that suits their needs.”

Ms Fearon said her extensive local knowledge would help her connect with clients.

“I know a lot of things about the area that a lot of other agents potentially don’t know,” she said.

This could be as simple as being able to tell buyers what time of day was best to visit the local dog park, or where the best secret swimming spots were, she said.

Ms Fearon said The Agency would help her focus on what she does best, selling properties.

“It gives me the opportunity to do what I love doing, which is listing and selling real estate as opposed to being a business owner,” she said.

“It just frees up my time, so instead of working on the business I’m working in the business.”

The Agency Chief Executive Officer of Real Estate Matt Lahood welcomed the addition of Ms Fearon to The Agency team.

Rebecca has more than 25 years experience in Real Estate and will lead The Agency in the popular suburb in Sydney’s Inner West,” Mr Lahood said.

“A local to Balmain, Rebecca will drive growth for our new Balmain office and will tap into our vast network of agents.”
