Singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright has put his Los Angeles home back on the market, asking US$2.3 million (AUD$3 million) for the colourful 1920s property in Laurel Canyon.
According to Mansion Global, Wainwright purchased the three-bedroom home in 2016 for US$1.45 million.

The 2,119-square-foot property features a castle-like exterior and what listing agent Alexandre Anu describes as a “very moody” interior with Tudor influences.
The living room has pitched Tudor-style ceilings painted red, a tiled Batchelder fireplace and stained-glass windows.

Other spaces include a yellow dining room, a kitchen with breakfast nook, and a reading corner in the primary bedroom.
The home’s standout feature is an octagonal library housed in a turret, with bookshelves reaching 15 feet high.

The property sits in the lower sections of Laurel Canyon, close to Sunset Boulevard while retaining the area’s natural quiet setting.
Wainwright first listed the property in 2024 at US$2.2 million but decided the timing wasn’t right and moved back in.

It was briefly listed for rent before returning to market this week with Anu and Dag Eliason.
Wainwright, 52, is known for his theatrical ballads and film work, including his cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” from the Shrek soundtrack.
He wrote material for his album “Unfollow the Rules” at the Laurel Canyon property.
