All the reigning King of Salsa Marc Anthony needs to know is if he will get the $27 million he is asking for his sprawling Coral Gables estate.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, whose real name is Marco Muniz, wants to sell the 12-bedroom, 21,000-square-foot, three-storey mansion at 300 Costanera Road for $8 million more than he paid for it in 2018.
The singer-songwriter is the ex-husband of Jennifer Lopez, aka J-Lo. He found his niche in Latin music and skyrocketed to success, becoming the best-selling salsa-recording artist in history.
Having sold over 12 million albums, he has bought and sold a number of glamorous homes.
In the summer of 2018, Anthony bought the unfinished waterfront mansion in Coral Gables, Florida, for $19 million – the highest price ever paid in the exclusive Cocoplum subdivision.
It was the home of Bacardi heiress, Hilda Maria Bacardi.
Now completed and only two years later, Anthony has put it back on the market at $27 million.
Known as Casa Costanera, the mansion is one of the largest homes in South Florida at 20,546 square feet of living space with 12 bedrooms and 13.5 baths.
Designed by architect Rafael Portuondo, the house was inspired by residences of the Amalfi Coast in Italy, according to the listing agent.
There is a lift to all three floors. An entertainer’s dream, the home has three kitchens, wine cellar, separate staff quarters and plenty of room for salsa dancing.
The landscaped 1.3 acres has 480 square feet of water frontage on a corner lot with direct access to Biscayne Bay and a 100-foot dock. There is also a swimming pool with bay views.
The mansion is located near other celebrities including Pharrell Williams and J-Lo’s current fiance, Alex Rodriguez.
The stunning Casa Costanera is listed by Anamaria Velasquez of Nexxos Realty and co-listed by John Parsini of Cervera Realty, both located in Miami, Florida.
Sales of luxury waterfront homes in Coral Gables, including the gated Cocoplum and Gables Estates communities, have surged since March, led by Pharrell Williams’ $30 million purchase of the mansion at 700 Casuarina Concourse.
With his trademark swivelling hips and upbeat salsa songs, Anthony is a huge star in the Latin countries and almost as big in the rest of the world.
Born in New York’s Spanish Harlem to Puerto Rican parents, he has been recognised by New York magazine as one of the 10 most influential New Yorkers and was inaugurated into the Billboard Hall of Fame in 2012.
Anthony has won two American Grammys and seven Latin Grammys and was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
He is also known for his acting, song writing, fashion designing and television producing. He starred on Broadway in Paul Simon’s musical, The Capeman, and appeared in the films Big Night and Man on Fire.
